Two New Viruses Loose

Author: Kevin Savetz
Date: December, 1993
Keywords: MBEF strain B Code 1 virus
Text: Watch out! Two new Macintosh viruses have been discovered. Neither one is intentionally destructive, but either can wreak havoc on your computer system if left unchecked. They are called ''MBEF strain B'' and ''Code 1'' viruses - both were discovered in November of this year. The MBEF virus has no obvious side-effects to speak of, but it can crash your system when you use certain software. Code 1 renames your hard disk to (of all things!) ''Trent Saboro'' if you turn the computer on on Oct. 31st of any year. Get the free anti-viral program Disinfectant, version 3.3 to check your system for these vile codes. We will be distributing Disinfectant version 3.3 at the December 8th meeting. Please bring a disk. Disinfectant is available for download from SMUGgler's BBS. Practice safe hex!
