Text: Updates Available for Apple Products * Apple A/UX, version 1.1 (1/89), for Macintosh II and Macintosh IIx. This version has improvements to the Toolbox; lets Macintosh and UNIX application run within the same environment; supports the AppleCD SC; has color support; and serial line interface protocol. Subscribers to the A/UX Software Update Service receive A/UX 1.1 automatically. User-installable update kits are available on tape or diskettes (2/15/89) from A/UX dealers only. * Macintosh system software, version 6.0.3 (1/89), is a revision of system software 6.0.2 to support the 030 direct slot of the Macintosh SE/30. This version is necessary to support the Macintosh SE/30, only. Users of any other Macintosh computer need not update. This version also includes an updated version of Apple File Exchange. * MacWorkStation, version 3.1 (1/89), provides host programmers with full access and control over windows, pull-down menus, and dialog boxes without requiring them to learn the traditional Macintosh programming environment. It has full RGB color support for all user interface objects. There are Presentation Layer Improvements, including error report to local users. Single-user versions are available through APDA; organization-wide licenses are available through Apple Software Licensing. * Macintosh Programmer's Workshop (MPW), version 3.0 (1/89), includes Projector, a source code management system, helps keep track of changes to source files; and SADE, a fine-tuned source-level debugging tool for use with MPW C and Pascal compilers. * Macintosh system software, version 6.0.2 (9/88), replaces version 6.0 and corrects sound and color problems and includes these updated files: ImageWriter LQ 2.0, AppleTalk ImageWriter LQ 2.0 and AppleShare Workstation 2.0.1. It has all the features of version 6.0: * Increased processing speed * CloseView: a special screen utility can magnify the Macintosh screen display from 2X to 16X normal size. Requested from either the control panel or the keyboard (as the user prefers), the magnification can be black on white or white on black. Documentation for CloseView is included in the Software 6.0 software manual. * MacroMaker: a utility that can automate repetitious tasks or create keyboard equivalents for menu items. MacroMaker is as easy to use as atape recorder -- record a series of keystrokes or menu actions to form a ''macro,'' and then assign a keystroke combination to recall the macro when needed. Finder functions such as opening and closing files and folders can be automated. * Macintosh System Software Version 6.0 also includes previous features such as the MultiFinder operating system which is Apple's multitasking software that extends the power of the Macintosh. * Apple Tape Backup 40SC Software has been revised (9/88) to work with A/UX systems, allowing partitions to be backed up by volume. It has the ability to verify the reliability of data cartridges and be used as an online storage unit. It also provides backup and restore by volume and file . Advanced Disk utility provides the ability to partition, initialize and erase hard disks. With the Installer, startup disks can be customized to match users' system configurations. Version 4.0 requires 512 RAM and ROM version 01.
