The five things people most want to do on the Infobahn

MacWorld magazine conducted a national public opinion survey to find out what consumers want from the much-touted Information Superhighway. They found that customers are much more interested in using the emerging information infrastructure for information, civic affairs and self-improvement than for entertainment. See page 96 of the October 1994 issue of MacWorld Magazine for the full story. Here are the five tasks people would most like to do with the Infobahn:
  1. Vote in elections (50% said they were highly interested in doing this.)
  2. Search reference works (47%)
  3. Distance learning (38%)
  4. Obtain local school information (38%)
  5. Search card catalogs (37%)
