The Systemax Pursuit 4025 notebook PC boasts an array of features typically found only on mid-range laptop models. Offered at $599.99 (after a $150 rebate), this build-to-order model comes with a base configuration that includes an Intel Celeron M 360 1.4 GHz processor, a 40GB hard drive and 256MB of PC2700 DDR memory. Though these specs may be comparable to other budget laptops, the Pursuit 4025 includes features that differentiate it clearly from other models in the range. Standard components include a 15-inch XGA Active-Matrix display, built-in 802.11b/g WiFi technology, and a CD-RW/DVD combo drive all encased in one sleek package. RAM is expandable to 1 GB, providing enough room for additional memory to support the Celeron processor. This model has a peripheral-friendly design with three high-speed USB ports, FireWire, VGA and S-Video ports (one each), and a PCMCIA slot. It also includes a flash card reader that supports Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, MultiMedia Card and SecureDigital formats. Buyers who are looking to propel their applications with brute power may frown at this model's Celeron processor. Nevertheless, the Pursuit 4025's performance features for a laptop in the $600-level should more than make up for any complaints regarding shortfall in processing power. If the place of manufacture is a matter of interest, Systemax prides itself as the largest American PC manufacturer with 100 percent of its assembly and technical support handled by US workers.
